X Will Appear As A Roaming Character During Universal Halloween Horror Nights

To start things off, we have the "roaming character" meme, a phrasal template format on X / Twitter that imagines the most inappropriate and strange characters that could appear at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights.

This meme started when it was reported that Nikki (Inde Navarrette) from the hit horror movie Obsession would appear as a roaming character during Universal's annual Halloween Horror Nights.

For those who don't know, a roaming character is a costumed character, usually a monster from a popular movie, who chases and pursues park visitors during its Halloween Horror Nights event.

Nikki's inclusion struck some people as odd, since Nikki is just a regular woman who has been possessed, meaning visitors could expect to be chased by a basically uncostumed woman.

From there, X users took the wording of the report and altered it to replace Nikki with other characters. These include inappropriate characters and people like Joe Jackson and ridiculous options like Anthony Bourdain, as he appears in the upcoming Tony documentary about his life.

On Reddit and X / Twitter, Spider-Man fans decided to imagine a world in which Peter Parker transitions and takes on the name "Petra Parker" in what's become one of the biggest fan art trends of the year.

Petra Parker is an already-established Marvel character from the Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Verse franchises. In the former series, Petra comes from a parallel universe where every notable Spider-Man character is gender swapped.

As Petra, she appears with short brown hair and is known by the alias Spider-Girl. However, the viral fan art trend takes Petra Parker and imagines her in a totally different light as a transgender version of Peter Parker, rather than an alternate universe character.

This past week, a piece of art by X user @0trebot that shows J. Jonah Jameson struggling to remember that Spider-Man transitioned into Spider-Woman went viral. This sparked a flood of fan art showing Petra swinging around and doing the regular Spider-Girl activities.

It also inspired more fan art where J. Jonah Jameson struggles to navigate Spider-Girl's new pronouns, but tries to remain respectful about it.

A scene from Family Guy about getting stuck behind actor Robert Loggia has become an Accuracy Reenactment and brainrot meme thanks to the people of TikTok.

This scene is a cutaway gag that comes from the 2011 Family Guy episode "Peter's Two Dads." The joke sees Peter get stuck behind actor Robert Loggia at the airport, forcing him to wait as Loggia very slowly and self-celebratorily spells out his name for the airport employee.

The scene resurfaced on TikTok recently and went viral, but TikTokers weren't willing to let it go viral without turning it into a nonsensical brainrot meme.

As a meme, the scene is being edited in absurd ways as a brainrot clip. It's also inspiring a whole lot of Accuracy Reenactments, which see TikTokers attempt to recreate the scene as accurately as possible.

Comedian Courtney O’Donnell's anti-comedy character, Chanty Beluga, blew up this past week as the subject of a wildly popular series of memes hinging entirely on the character's silly name.

Chanty Beluga's videos are simple: They show a woman named Chanty Beluga doing the most average and uninteresting things possible, like ordering an Uber. There's no obvious joke in these videos, except for the fact that Chanty Beluga loves introducing herself and letting people know her name.

This character has blown up on TikTok and Reels in the past week for her confusing and bizarre videos. These videos inspired viewers to get in on the meme and post comedy skits in which they pretend to be in Beluga's sphere in some way.

Others are expanding on Beluga's lore, including through a whole lot of memes that imagine her as having a dark, cancel-worthy secret.

Brands are now even getting in on the memes, perhaps proving that Chanty Beluga has surprising staying power.

Ruth Smiling / Old Woman From Widow's Bay

Finally, the character Ruth from Widow's Bay is going viral across social media as a far-too-relatable meme for elder millennials everywhere.

The meme actually uses a slightly AI-edited screenshot from the show of Ruth (K Callan) smiling warmly in a home.

In the scene, the character Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) goes to confront Ruth in an attempt to solve the curse of the island and prevent their doom. X users, however, thought up a new way to use the image.

Back in July 2026, a Threads user first used the image to make a joke about being an elder millennial excited to tell someone about a new band they found.

This brutally relatable joke, which pokes fun at elder millennials, has now inspired a lot of similar memes depicting older millennials as true elders.

Some popular examples include a meme where Ruth explains what a "computer lab" is, a meme about how Instagram used to have no algorithm and a meme about sharing your CD collection.
