The Weekly Meme Roundup: Thinking Monkey, Jamie Lee Curtis, AI Fruits Eating Themselves And More
Weapons run your way over here and sit down. It's time for the Weekly Meme Roundup, where we explain five of the biggest memes of the past week.
This week in the roundup, we have the newest trend to rot your brain, "Adrian Eeffoc Brainrot," a surprisingly freaky (in the best way) appearance from Jamie Lee Curtis, some equally freaky (in the worst way) AI ASMR fruits and more.
Here are five of the most viral memes from the past week that you need to catch up on.
Adrian Eeffoc Brainrot
Brainrot has evolved in a strange new way with the Adrian Eeffoc Brainrot memes, which mash up some of the biggest brain-rotting memes of the year to make a grotesque, viral monster of a trend.
This is one of those memes that you could show to a Victorian child to instantly give them a heart attack. It takes viral brainrot memes like "Adrian, Explain Our Friend Group" and "Coffee Spelled Backwards Is Eeffoc" and basically remixes them into absurdist collage videos.
They make no sense, and that's the point. The meme is essentially just a way for brainrot scholars to aura farm and show off their knowledge of niche meme references.
The memes have been growing increasingly popular for weeks now, but they definitely hit a new high this week, becoming inescapable on TikTok and Instagram Reels.
You might as well get used to this meme now, because it's probably not going to stop showing up any time soon.

Jamie Lee Curtis' "Freakier Friday" Ad
Freakier Friday star Jamie Lee Curtis popped onto the Disney Instagram account over the weekend to advertise the movie, but viewers had their attention set somewhere else.
@disneystudios A special message from Jamie Lee Curtis 💜💚 Experience Freakier Friday now playing in theaters. Get tickets. Link in bio.
There's nothing particularly special about the contents of the ad. Mostly, it's Jamie Lee Curtis' wardrobe and “assets” that's got people excited.
In the ad, she's seen wearing a very revealing top, showing off a side of the 66-year-old actress that a lot of people weren't aware of. Clearly, they're just a bunch of fake fans who haven't seen True Lies or Trading Places.
Curtis sent the thirstiest people on social media into a bit of a frenzy with the ad. Suddenly, people started showering compliments her way, many ranging from creepy to pathetic, with some fun to be had in between.
Don't ever doubt the internet's love of "booba." You'll be proven wrong every time.

Thinking Monkey
A photo of a monkey thinking very hard about something became the big relatable reaction image this week after inspiring memes for years.
The photo of the quizzical monkey was first posted on DeviantArt back in 2011 by user anagw8, with no real context provided.
Then, out of nowhere, it started inspiring memes on Instagram in 2024. From there, the image spread across social media alongside captions about having cheeky little thoughts.
The Thinking Monkey's relatability and mischievous aura have kept it a prevalent meme over the last few months. Now, it seems to be experiencing a peak in popularity across social media, with many TikTokers using it in photo comments as a reaction image.

Fruits Eating Themselves
AI ASMR is one of the weirder AI trends to go viral in the last year, and now, it's been taken to new levels of weird with the videos of fruits eating themselves.

These freaky little fruits, also known as "Niche Fruits," have been gaining steam on TikTok since late July and have now hit new levels of virality.
The videos typically show AI fruits with human facial features eating slices of their own species. Some viral examples include an apple eating an apple, a lemon eating a lemon and a blueberry eating a blueberry. Top it off with some disgusting smacking noises, and you've got an AI ASMR hit.
In the last week, TikTokers have been reuploading the videos with new captions, usually hyping the fruit up and discussing how much they love it.
The fruits are also being edited into standalone memes, essentially converting them into reaction images that have now spread to sites like X.

Weapons Run
Finally, the psychological horror-thriller film Weapons has been crushing at the box office, propelling its most popular meme, the "Weapons Run," to new heights.
In the movie, which is about a classroom of kids who mysteriously go missing one day, some kids are seen running around with their arms out at their sides, almost in a Naruto run or T-pose, but scarier.
Not-so-fun fact, the run is actually inspired by a photo of a little girl in Vietnam with napalm burns running and crying, titled "The Terror of War" or "Napalm Girl." So, yeah, pretty spooky.
A screenshot from the movie's trailer, showing a kid doing the run across the street, started to inspire memes as early as the film's release date, August 8th.
Now that more people have seen the film, they've latched onto the meme, which involves attaching funny captions about rushing off somewhere to the image.
