A mysterious and whimsical man named Jean Philanthrope is going viral across social media for his funny hairdo and impressive shadowboxing skills.

Jean Philanthrope took over social media outta nowhere this past week after posting a video of himself shadowboxing while wearing a dapper suit. Philanthrope's fascinating appearance, donning a blonde mustache and big hair, immediately intrigued viewers.
Jean Phil quickly grew an audience and continued to post videos where he poses and boxes in various locations, continuing to capture the hearts and minds of viewers across the web.
While many were fully on board the Jean Phil train, others became suspicious. They started arguing about whether the man was AI-generated, suggesting he's simply too unique to actually exist. These accusations only increased when his accounts started shilling a meme coin based on the character.
The general consensus online seems to be that Jean Phil is indeed AI or using assistance from AI, but some are still skeptical, offering a perfect example of how realistic AI videos have become in 2026.

Wawario and Wawaluigi
Wario and Waluigi have found some unofficial rivals besides Mario and Luigi, and they're named Wawario and Wawaluigi.
The concept of Wawario and Wawaluigi, two evil counterparts to Wario and Waluigi, who are already the evil counterparts of Mario and Luigi, has been around since the 2010s.
However, these fan characters, depicted as a large green-and-orange-clad man and a scrawny blue-and-black-clad man, respectively, really had their moment in the meme spotlight this week thanks to a resurfaced song by YouTuber A.J.N.
In the YouTube video, a man sings the names of several fan-made Super Mario characters, but it's Wawario and Wawaluigi who really stand out.
Since being reuploaded to TikTok and Reels, the song has blown up as a series of memes and video edits, which look to introduce us to the strange unofficial characters.
Now, fans are even drawing and uploading fan art of Wawario and Wawaluigi to sites like X / Twitter, some of which depict them in the classic Super Mario style.

Verity's From Minecraft, He Belongs To Backrooms
This year's Minecraft horror ARG darling Verity has inspired another meme this past week, thanks to a strange animation that debates his true home.

The "Verity's From Minecraft" meme is based on an animated video by TikToker @web24535. Uploaded at the end of August 2026, this animation shows Pirate Clark from the Backrooms movie playing tug-of-war with Minecraft Steve over Verity. Steve argues that Verity's from Minecraft, but Clark argues that he belongs to the Backrooms fandom.
This animation plays on the fact that both fandoms have been using the spooky character in their fan content.
Over the past week, the animation and its audio have inspired a variety of memes. Some of the most popular memes recreate the video both with animation and in real life, often with a funny or bizarre twist, such as a change in characters.
The audio is also being used in purposefully cringeworthy dance and lip-dub videos across TikTok and Reels.

We're All Just Blocking the Street
A song about blocking the street, taken from a Family Guy cutaway gag, has become a meme trend about all the funniest and most frustrating times you're forced to deal with a crowd.

The scene comes from the season 15 episode "The Peter Principal." In the scene, Brian Griffin is trying to deliver a pizza in 30 minutes or less. He's stopped from doing this, however, when a New Orleans marching band cuts in front of him, blocking him from crossing the street. Adding insult to injury, the band sings repeatedly, "We're all just blocking the street."
This funny scene was reposted to TikTok in July and went viral as a meme in the past week. As a meme, the song is paired with captions about situations where you're forced to deal with a crowd.
For example, pushing through the crowd after a concert to get to your car. Some participants are also setting the song to footage of real marching bands.

Celebrity Lookalike Trend / Star By Face
Finally, people are using the Star By Face website to find their true celebrity lookalikes, and the results are going viral.

Star By Face allows users to upload a photo of themselves to find their celebrity lookalike. Once uploaded, the site scans the photo and offers up both a male and female celebrity that the participant looks like.
The results can arguably be pretty accurate, but they can also be funny, leading to a viral trend that's sometimes more about the suggested celebrities than the actual resemblance they bear to the poster.
Videos of people using the site and reacting to their celebrity lookalikes have mostly been going viral on TikTok. Many examples of the trend use a CapCut template that shows the pairings, followed by a photo of the poster, allowing viewers to decide for themselves whether Star By Face was right or not.
