A gentle orange cat named Almond has captured the hearts of millions after a compilation video showcased her visits to different nursing homes, where she provides companionship and comfort to the elderly residents who live there.

The footage features a series of wholesome interactions in which residents express their delight at meeting Almond, who calmly sits with them and allows herself to be petted.

The heartwarming compilation has since gone viral over the last five days, accumulating millions of views on Instagram and TikTok.

Almond's visits are documented through the Instagram and TikTok account @almondandcashie, which is run by her owner and primarily features the everyday lives of three cats: Almond, Cashie and Pistachio.

The account regularly shares humorous and wholesome videos of the animals, several of which have attracted widespread attention online.

More recently, however, its content has increasingly highlighted Almond's work as a pet therapy cat, offering viewers a look at her interactions with nursing home residents visiting with the animal.

The project began after Almond's owner noticed the cat's particularly calm and affectionate behavior around children, inspiring her to bring Almond to nursing homes for pet therapy visits.

Over the following year, Almond became a familiar presence among residents, many of whom eagerly welcomed the opportunity to spend time with her.

To commemorate her first year of visits, her owner compiled some of their most memorable interactions into a single video, highlighting the residents' joyful reactions and Almond's gentle temperament throughout the encounters.

"The best moments from the first year of my cat doing pet therapy visits in nursing homes," the cat's owner writes in the video. It begins with her recording as she enters a room in a nursing home, where a resident is lying in bed. "You love cats?" she asks him.

"Yes. I had two of them," he replies.

"Oh, my gosh. This is Almond," she says, as someone else approaches with said cat.

"Almond? Oh," he says, looking at the cat. "Hi, Almond. Thank you for coming in," he says, petting the cat as she is placed on his bed. "How old are you, young lady?" he asks, continuing to pet Almond as she lies on top of him.

"She's 13," Almond's owner answers.

"13," the resident repeats, "I had two 20-year-olds."

"Oh, my goodness," Almond's owner replies.

Then, the video cuts to Almond's visit to another resident. He is sitting in an armchair, and Almond is lying on his lap as he pets her. "Tell me about the cat," he tells Almond's owner.

"This is Almond," she says. "She's a girl. I've had her for almost seven years."

"Really?" he says.

"Yeah," the owner answers.

Then, the video cuts again to another visit. Almond is being held by a woman, as the nursing home resident, an elderly woman, stands in front of her and pets Almond's face.

"Sweetheart, look at that," the resident says, making delighted noises as she pinches some of Almond's whiskers, "Look, look."

"What does she have? Teeth?" the woman holding Almond says, trying to determine what the resident's talking about.

"Whiskers?" Almond's owner suggests.

"Whiskers!" the resident says, letting go of Almond's face. The cat doesn't seem too bothered by the interaction. "Yeah," the resident says, now petting one of Almond's paws with one finger.

The video then cuts to another visit. A resident is sitting in a chair with a tray table, and a man places Almond on top of it as the resident starts petting her.

The elderly man leans in close, putting his face next to Almond's. "Give kisses, mommy," one of Almond's handlers says, as the other one giggles and says, "Awww."

The man leans back slightly, still petting Almond. "I just don't have a space for you," he says.

The video cuts to another visit. A woman is sitting in an armchair, a blanket on top of her lap. "Hey, Almond," she says, looking at the cat as she is held in front of her.

"How are you, huh?" the resident says, trying to get her hands out from under the blanket. "How are you? I'm buried," she says, after she is unable to get her hands out.

"I'm buried," Almond's owner repeats, laughing.

Finally, the video cuts to the last visit in the compilation. In it, an elderly woman sitting in an armchair turns to her side.

"The kitty's name is Almond?" she asks excitedly.

"Yeah," Almond's owner says, as she pushes forward what looks to be a stroller, where Almond's sitting, closer to the woman so that she can pet the cat. "So, here, your hand," she says, grabbing the woman's hand and placing it on top of Almond.

"Oh, hi, kitty," the woman says, petting Almond. "Oh."

"Almond has been such a blessing this past year," the cat's owner writes in the caption of the video. "We are so excited to continue this as long as Almond is okay with it 🥹❤️."
