A video compiling various mistakes made by Waymo vehicles has gone viral, showing the downsides of this technology in its current form and sparking discourse about how safe they are on our roads.

In the various clips compiled in the post from Driver's Side 0001, people who were both using and not using a Waymo to travel were affected by the self-driving cars' mistakes.

Driver's Side 0001 is an Instagram account that mostly posts about driving and road safety, with many posts featuring the account’s owner, a cab driver, as well as reposts of funny videos related to driving.

The account got its first viral moment with the first video it shared, a compilation of clips featuring mistakes by the self-driving Waymo cars, which compromised road safety and/or were dangerous to the car’s own passengers or to people in nearby cars. The video garnered over 3.6 million views in less than two months.

The compilation starts with a clip of a woman on a sidewalk next to a Waymo, titled "when someone asks me what it's like to live in San Francisco, I send them this video." The car leaves, and the woman reaches out towards it, even hitting the car, yet it doesn't stop. The woman turns to her friend, who recorded the whole thing, in shock.

In the second clip, filmed from a vehicle, a man is standing in front of a Waymo, signaling for it to move as it is blocking the car the person recording is in. The camera then turns to the car's driver, who is repeating, "Waymo, please move," before exclaiming "Alexa!"

In the third clip, a person in a car behind a Waymo films the Waymo doing a zig-zag between cones that were placed in a road, and merging into oncoming traffic as it does so. The car's passengers scream as it does this right in front of them.

The fourth clip is recorded inside a Waymo, where the passengers scream as the car drives into a firework that a person had set off in the middle of the street.

The fifth clip was also recorded from inside a Waymo and is titled "I think Waymo got some work to do still." The passenger in the car says, "This area flooded, and my car is driving in the middle of it," as he pans the camera to show the very flooded street.

In the sixth clip, a man in another car films a Waymo that's stopped on a light rail track, and then pans the camera to show the oncoming train. "Oh, get out, get out," he says, as the Waymo car stays completely still on the track.

The seventh clip is titled "another day, another Waymo causing traffic jams," and shows a Waymo and many other cars behind it, with a traffic agent signaling for it to move.

In the eighth clip, a woman shows the map of her journey, which says that she will arrive in 22 minutes, before turning the camera around to show herself in distress, sobbing and saying, "It's only 10 minutes away, and I'm already late, and I don't know where it's taking me," before breaking down in sobs.

The ninth clip shows a Waymo stopped in the middle of the street after presumably exiting a parking space, blocking the way for other cars, as the people recording scream for it to move.

The tenth clip captures a dog alone inside a Waymo, looking stressed by the experience, with the text "a desperate dog."

The eleventh and final clip was recorded from the inside of a Waymo and shows people expressing their distress when their car makes a sharp U-turn, nearly crashing into a bus.

In the comments of the video, some people expressed that driverless cars shouldn’t be allowed to circulate, while others called for people to stop using these cars, believing that that’s the way to make the cars go away.
