A woman's increasingly absurd couples' costume suggestions for her fiancé have become a recurring source of entertainment on social media, with each idea featuring an unexpected twist.

Rather than simply suggesting matching Halloween outfits, she prepares elaborate presentations in which she reveals her own costume before asking her fiancé to guess what he would wear.

His guesses are typically far more conventional than the costumes she actually has in mind, resulting in humorous reactions that have helped several installments of the series go viral.

The videos are created by Ella Reames, a social media content creator who frequently shares moments from her everyday life with her fiancé, Billy Howard, on TikTok and Instagram. One of her recurring video formats involves preparing presentations about subjects she believes Howard is unfamiliar with, filming his reactions as he stands beside their TV and follows along with her explanations.

As Halloween approached in October 2026, Reames adapted the familiar format into a series of increasingly unconventional costume proposals. Each presentation follows a similar structure, with Howard attempting to predict his half of a themed outfit before Reames reveals a much more ridiculous alternative.

The running joke attracted widespread attention across both platforms, with multiple installments becoming viral successes. Reames continued developing the premise throughout the Halloween season, culminating in a final presentation that drew further attention from viewers following the series.

The video starts with Howard standing in front of a TV. The TV is displaying a white presentation slide, with black text that reads "Things I think we should be for Halloween."

"This is things I think we should be for Halloween," Reames says, behind the camera.

"Okay," Howard says, nodding.

The TV displays the following slide, where the text has been replaced by a photo of a woman in a maid costume, and Howard turns to look at it. "I would be a maid," Reames says. "Classic," she adds.

Howard turns back to her, "Cool," he says, "So I'd probably be, like, a male maid?" he says.

"No," Reames says, "you would be dust," she answers, as a photo of a man covered in flour appears on the slide. Howard turns to look at it in surprise. "Think we just cover you in flour," she continues, "Very low budget."

"What?" Howard asks, "What even is that picture?" he says, turning to look at it again and turning back to her.

"A man covered in flour," she answers. "But it's dust. But, like, hypothetical."

Reames then clicks over to the next slide, where a photo of a woman dressed as Rapunzel appears. "Um, I could be Rapunzel," she says.

"She's the one who's stuck in the tower?" Howard asks.

"Yes," she says.

"Okay, so I would be… oh," he says, getting an idea. "What's her boyfriend’s name?" he asks.

"Flynn Rider?" Reames says.

"Yeah," he says confidently.

"Absolutely not," Reames says, as a photo of a boy dressed up as a frying pan appears on the slide, "You'd be my frying pan that I hit him with," she says.

Howard turns around to look at it, before turning back to Reames. "Why did she hit Howard with a freaking…?" he asks.

"You need to catch up on your Disney movies," Reames answers.

She clicks over to the next slide, where a photo of a man in a patriot costume appears. "I could be a patriot," she says, before adding, "I have a feeling you're really gonna like this one."

Howard continues to stare at her. "As in the football mascot," she clarifies.

"Okay," he says, tentatively.

"So you would be…" Reames says.

"Tom Brady, Drake May, Rob Gronkowski?" he suggests.

On the slide, a photo of a man wearing a shirt with vertical black and yellow stripes appears. His back is facing the camera, and he is holding a red signal pole. "Uh, Chain Guy or whatever," Reames says. "Chain gang," Howard laughs. "This is pretty good," Reames says.

"Hang on, I like this a lot," Howard says emphatically, smiling and pointing towards the TV.

"Then we probably shouldn't do it," Reames says. Howard's face falls, and he looks at her in incomprehension.

"Okay, I could be Medusa," Reames says, clicking over to the next slide, which has a picture of a woman dressed as Medusa.

Howard turns towards it and then looks away thoughtfully. "And I would, like, just be stone," he says.

"Yes, stone," she says, as a photo of a man dressed as a stone appears on the slide. "Perfect. Billy, you're really good at these," she adds.

"Okay," Reames says, clicking over to the next slide, which shows a woman dressed as Wanda from Fairly Odd Parents, "I would be Wanda from Fairly Odd Parents. Probably a cuter one than this, but…" she says.

"Okay, and I would be…" Billy says, "You gotta think Cosmo here," he says with a shrug.

"Absolutely not, you'd be Mr. Crocker," she says, showing a photo of a person in a homemade costume of said character.

"What are with these costumes? Why do they look like that?" Billy says.

In the comments, people quoted funny moments in the video, and many expressed that they particularly enjoyed the moment when Reames turned down a costume idea just because Howard liked it.

In the end, Reames and Howard went as Elphaba and Glinda from the musical Wicked.
