Baldurs Gate 3 Wins Game Of The Year But Many Are Chatting About The 10 Minutes Hideo Kojima Got To Reveal Something
Baldur's Gate 3 won "Game of the Year" at last night's Game Awards to the surprise of very few, but what may have been a surprise is that rascally video game auteur Hideo Kojima got a lot of time to talk about his new … project (?) he's been making in collaboration with horror filmmaker Jordan Peele.
The Game Awards gave Kojima and Peele quite a bit of time to introduce OD, their upcoming collaborative project that they insist is a "game" but is also "at the same time a movie and at the same time a new form of media."
What they showed of OD is typically cryptic in Kojima fashion, as the teaser consists entirely of the mo-capped heads of Hunter Schafer, Sophia Lillis and Udo Kier making scared faces or shouting cryptic dialogue.
The project promises to be a horror game/movie/new form of media, but for the moment, all fans have to get excited about is basically Kojima, Peele and screaming — which, in fairness, is quite a lot to be excited about considering PT, Kojima's demo for the unreleased Silent Hills made with Guillermo Del Toro, is still widely regarded as one of the scariest horror experiences of all time.
However, hype for the project at the moment was mitigated by Kojima and Peele seeming to get a hefty chunk of stage time to give cryptic details about OD while people who actually won awards at The 2023 Game Awards continued to get cut off during their acceptance speeches.
One writer jokingly calculated that without Kojima's presentation, 13.5 more short acceptance speeches could have taken place.
There will certainly be more news on OD in the coming months and years, but despite its pedigree, many online feel it shouldn't have taken up so much of the spotlight at The Game Awards.
