Prolific internet comedian (and man of many memes) Dan Hentschel just tweeted about landing a TV show deal with MAX. The source? Apparently, Deadline.

The tweet purported that Hentschel was set to write, direct, and star in an original comedy series exclusively for the streaming service formerly known as HBO, set to release in 2026.

In true Dan Hentschel fashion, his quote tweet of the mock DiscussingFilms post read, "Cocky want TV show," an homage to one of his most iconic memes.

"This is wonderful news! You’ve made it Dan!" said one Twitter user in his replies. "So glad Dan finally caught his big break, maybe it’s the Son Loaf spin off we’ve always wanted," another wrote, referencing one of his more recently unhinged posting arcs.

At the same time, others started to see the gimmick happening before their eyes. "Another alt…" one user wrote, attaching the GIF of Jesse from Breaking Bad shouting, "He can't keep getting away with it!"

As you might have guessed, there's no Deadline article about Dan Hentschel signing a deal with MAX.

Some would describe Dan Hentschel as a serial hoaxster, approaching mastery if he's not there already. He first gained traction (and the minds of gullible internet users) when he pretended to be a disgruntled therapist who screamed, "I hate being a therapist!" in a viral video.

The clip amassed discourse and reactions. Many were shocked that a therapist would post such an emotional video, fully unaware that Hentshcel was trolling them.

Hentschel has spawned numerous memes since then, like Virtual Sin Forgiveness and My Students Are All Morons, just to name a few. In both, he's donning a new character, meant to trick those unfamiliar with his game.

If Dan Hentschel got his "big break," like some of his fans were hoping, it would have undoubtedly broken the internet. Perhaps Hentschel is just hinting at the idea and hoping that some executive somewhere is seeing the thousands of impressions that his tweet already has.
